E Referral

This is a national electronic referral service which gives patients a choice of place, date and time for their first outpatient appointment in a hospital or clinic.

When you and your GP agree that you need an appointment, you can choose which hospital or clinic you go to. You will also be able to choose the date and time of your appointment.

Private Referral letters

On occasions we are asked to provide referral letters for patients who have already booked their own private appointment.

We aim to send out all referral letters as promptly as possible,  prioritised on the basis of clinical need.

There may not always be sufficient clerical time to accomodate requests for non urgent letters at short notice.

We ask therefore that unless specifically discussed with the relevant Doctor, anyone wishing to pre-book an appointment would allow at least one weeks notice.
